Four Olympic champions cement their status
The global stars of athletics performed on a level befitting their rank at Weltklasse Zürich 2024. All eyes were on the new Olympic champions of Paris. Four of them prevailed at the sold-out Letzigrund Stadium once again.

A record run for a double Olympic champion and a historic Swiss triumph
Two out four Olympic champions in individual events suffered a defeat at Weltklasse Zürich. Double Olympic champion Beatrice Chebet (KEN) had 25 000 fans jumping out of their seats in the 5000m. She broke the meeting record in a new world leading time. Local fans were also ecstatic about the 4x100m team’s first win at Letzigrund Stadium.

Karsten vs. Mondo: A win for the pole vault specialist
The two were both highly motivated, they were both very confident. But only one of them could win in the end. It was Sweden’s pole vault record holder who won what may be the most extraordinary clash in the history of Weltklasse Zürich. Mondo Duplantis defeated Karsten Warholm in the 100m.

And just as in 2022 on Sechseläutenplatz and in 2023 at the city’s main train station, it was Australian Nina Kennedy who flew higher than anyone else. European champion and local hero Angelica Moser placed fourth once again despite her personal indoor record.
