Weltklasse Zürich Stars – Part 2

Three javelin throwers have passed the 90-meter mark this year. All three come from our neighbouring country Germany and all three will try to win the Diamond Trophy at Weltklasse Zürich on August 30. Olympic and European champion Thomas Röhler, world champion Johannes Vetter and vice European champion Andreas Hofmann will meet last year’s champion Jakub Vadlejch (CZE).

Will Mariya Lasitskene defend her title?

Mariya Lasitskene (ANA) is considered the queen of the skies. In Berlin she became European champion for the first time, in 2017 she successfully defended her World Championship title. At Weltklasse Zürich she has to defend her next title as Diamond Champion. Among the strongest opponents are vice European champion Mirela Demivera (BUL), vice world Champion Yuliya Levchenko (UKR) and European Championship third-placed Marie-Laurence Jungfleisch (GER).

Distance hunt in Letzigrund

Juan Miguel Echevarria (CUB) is considered the rising long jump star of 2018. The indoor world champion flew with a little too much tailwind (+2.1) at 8.83m. With a valid 8.68m he still owns the longest jump of the year. World champion and last year’s winner Luvo Manyonga (RSA) is also aiming for his next victory, however, also already achieved a strong distance of 8.58m. Among others, Olympic champion Jeff Henderson (USA) must also be on the list.

As of now we publish regularly via the social media channels who will definitely compete in Zurich. Follow us on Facebook and Instagram.
