The new IAAF Diamond League format turns Weltklasse Zürich 2017 into a grand finale with even greater drawing power than before: The series’ final will feature exciting athletics action with athletes on the hunt for the fiercely contested Diamond Trophies, which come with an increased prize money award this year. The first stars have already secured their spot on the Zurich entry list.

The first top athletes qualify for Weltklasse Zürich

Only athletes who have earned sufficient points at the 12 preceding meetings will get to compete at Letzigrund Stadium on 24 August. Unlike previous years, however, all finalists will then have a chance at a Trophy. Winners of their final – IAAF Diamond League Champions – will be awarded 50,000 USD.

The global series includes 12 outdoor meetings in 14 cities. The next IAAF Diamond League highlight will be the Herculis EBS meeting in Monaco on Friday night. With 10 meetings already completed, the first line-ups for the showdown in Zurich are beginning to emerge.
