Pilots Compete at Cybathlon
Zurich is a Mecca for world-class athletics – and world-class science. The Cybathlon competition, initiated by ETH Zurich, is part of the Weltklasse Zürich events at Zurich’s main train station this year. The ETHZ - the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich – and Weltklasse Zürich make a great combination: The ETHZ is one of the world’s most renowned universities, and Weltklasse Zürich one of the most prestigious athletics meetings worldwide. The two ambitious centres of excellence have joined forces this year to stage a Cybathlon experience featuring four very special competitions.

An Airshow for Commuters at Zurich Main Station
The world’s top pole vaulters will compete at a height of nearly 5m during Weltklasse Zürich at Zurich Main Station on Wednesday, 28 August. Spectators will be treated to a spectacular airshow. And the cast will include two local stars.

Weltklasse Zürich to host IAAF Diamond League Finals in 2020 and 2021
The structure of the prestigious IAAF Diamond League will be renewed. Starting next season, the series will include 13 of the world’s top one-day meetings instead of 14. In addition, there will be one IAAF Diamond League Final instead of two. Zurich will be the venue for the final events of 2020 and 2021.

Weltklasse Zürich 2019: Stars, Heroes, Crowd Favourites
Weltklasse Zürich is always filled to the brim with high-level athletics highlights. Still, some competitions may deserve a particularly close look. In the women’s 200m, for instance, two Olympic champions, the reigning world champion, last year’s European champion, and crowd favourite Mujinga Kambundji will all line up for a very special race.

Letzigrund Stadium will be filled to capacity during this year’s edition of Weltklasse Zurich on 29 August. As always, 25,000 spectators will be cheering the international top stars of athletics at the IAAF Diamond League Final.

Shooting Star to Challenge World Record Holder
The women’s 400m hurdles race will be one of Weltklasse Zürich’s highlights this year. One month after her spectacular world record run in her home country, reigning Olympic champion Dalilah Muhammad is returning to Letzigrund Stadium, the arena of her 2018 IAAF Diamond League triumph. She will be facing strong opponents, however.

Sports meets music - Souvenir by Baba Shrimps feat. Sandi Morris & Noah Lyles will be the crowning final during the closing ceremony of Weltklasse Zürich on 29 August 2019. A special souvenir for the two exceptional athletes.
