More highly decorated stars confirmed

Olympic champions, world champions, European champions, and Wanda Diamond League titleholders – the star-studded lineup for Weltklasse Zürich 2025 continues to take shape. Today, the meeting confirms more global track and field stars – including Paris 2024 Olympic champions like Valarie Allman, Thea LaFond, and Emmanuel Wanyonyi, as well as reigning world champions such as Femke Bol, Daniel Ståhl, Laulauga Tausaga, and Hugues Fabrice Zango.

Additional Olympic champions are also among the elite lineup – including two-time Olympic champion Sandra Elkasević, pole vaulter Katie Moon, and triple jumper Pedro Pichardo. Also competing are Diamond League title defenders and European champions. They all share a single goal: victory at the grand Wanda Diamond League Final on August 27 and 28, 2025, in Zurich.

Emmanuel Wanyonyi: The New Star of Middle Distance
With his impressive performance at the Paris Olympics, Emmanuel Wanyonyi (KEN) has firmly established himself as the new world leader in the 800 meters. The reigning Olympic champion embodies speed, strategy, and talent – and he aims to add another trophy to his already promising career in Zurich. At just 19 and 20 years old, he won the overall Wanda Diamond League – and now he’s chasing a third consecutive title.

Femke Bol: Dominator with Triple Title Ambitions
She is the dominant force in Europe over the 400m hurdles: Femke Bol (NED) is the reigning world champion, European champion, and Diamond League titleholder. With exceptional technique, tactical maturity, and unwavering consistency, she commands the track – and heads to Zurich in 2025 as the clear favorite. Her goal: defend her title at the highest level.

Women’s Discus: Dual Olympic Champions Face Off Against the World Champion
Another clash of titans awaits in the women’s discus: Valarie Allman (USA), Olympic champion in Paris and defending Diamond League winner, will face Sandra Elkasević (CRO), a two-time Olympic champion, multiple medalists at major events, and record Diamond League winner (6 titles). Also confirmed is Laulauga Tausaga (USA) – the 2023 world champion, who has had many thrilling battles with both Allman and Elkasević.

Men’s Discus: Current World Champion vs. European Champion
The men’s discus is also packed with talent: Daniel Ståhl (SWE), the reigning world champion, returns to Zurich looking for another major title. Among his top rivals: Kristjan Čeh (SLO), 2024 European champion and 2022 Diamond League overall winner. And watch out – more big names are close to qualifying.

Katie Moon vs. Angelica Moser: Gold Meets Home Advantage
In women’s pole vault, Katie Moon (USA) – reigning world champion and Olympic champion from Tokyo – leads the field. After two spectacular editions at Zurich Main Station, the pole vault returns to the stadium this year. Moon has had a consistently strong season and is determined to win the overall title and the Diamond Trophy.

But competition is fierce – especially from Swiss European champion Angelica Moser, who has firmly established herself among the world’s elite. With consistent performances and strong results, she is now a regular in the global top ranks. Her showdown with the American athlete promises a thrilling battle on equal footing, with excitement likely to last until the final height.

Thea LaFond & Pedro Pichardo: Olympic Wins with Historic Significance
Thea LaFond (DMA) steps onto the triple jump runway as an Olympic champion who made history: she became the first-ever Olympic gold medalist from Dominica. Her emotional reaction moved fans around the world – and now she is eager to show at Weltklasse Zürich that her victory was no fluke, but rather the beginning of a new era in triple jump.

Also confirmed is Pedro Pichardo (POR), Diamond League titleholder and Olympic champion from Tokyo. Known for his technical excellence and explosive style, the experienced Portuguese athlete brings intensity and routine – and will face off in Zurich against current world champion Hugues Fabrice Zango (BUR). It is a much-anticipated duel: World Champion vs. Titleholder – a showdown of two elite athletes.

The Countdown Is On
The final decisions in the race for Diamond League final spots will be made at the upcoming three meetings in Silesia, Lausanne, and Brussels. In several events, we will only know after those who will qualify to compete for the Diamond Trophy in Zurich on August 27–28, 2025.

The excitement is building – as is the anticipation for the grand season finale at Weltklasse Zürich, taking place on Sechseläutenplatz and in Letzigrund Stadium.
