Double European champion Jakob Ingebrigtsen to compete in Zurich

Jakob Ingebrigtsen (NOR) played a leading role at the recent European athletics championships in Berlin. Aged 17, he took gold both in the men‘s 1500m and in the 5000m. Next Thursday, he will be part of the all-star cast of Weltklasse Zürich. Following an injury-related cancellation, the young Norwegian star will be competing in the 1500m final. He will face world champion Elijah Manangoi, last year’s Diamond champion Timothy Cheruiyot and his older brother Filip Ingebrigtsen.

Exciting relay race expected

At the end of the competitions, the Zurich Trophy will be awarded to the winning women’s relay team. The fast Jamaicans will meet the first four nations of the 2018 European Championships and the team from Great Britain, which will be coming to Zurich with with all four starters of the European Championships final, could be named as favourites. Star of this British team: Triple European champion Dina Asher-Smith. They again demand the European Championship 2nd from the Netherlands and the European Championship 3rd from Germany with 100m Vice European champion Gina Lückenkemper. The Swiss women with 100m record holder Mujinga Kambundji are looking for revenge as fourth placed at the European Championships.
