Weeks ahead of the event, Weltklasse Zürich is already taking off – with today’s announcement of two absolute global athletics superstars: pole vault phenomenon Mondo Duplantis and high jump ace Yaroslava Mahuchikh. Both are reigning world record holders and Olympic champions from Paris 2024, and they are set to deliver spectacular performances on Zurich’s iconic Sechseläutenplatz. Following the announcement of Swiss fan favourite Simon Ehammer in the long jump, these are the first international headliners to be revealed – and one thing is clear: Weltklasse Zürich 2025 will be a celebration of athletics for all – right in the heart of the city, with free access to the competition venues.
He soars above the rest: Armand “Mondo” Duplantis. The Swedish superstar is not only the dominant pole vaulter of our time but also one of the most charismatic figures in global athletics. The Olympic gold medallist from Paris 2024, World and European Champion has broken his own world record multiple times since 2020 – most recently raising the bar to 6.28 metres. With his flawless technique, consistency and charisma, he has captivated fans around the world. Zurich also holds special meaning for Duplantis: in 2024, he made headlines by winning the iconic 100-metre race against Karsten Warholm. In 2025, he returns – this time to the Sechseläutenplatz, where he will once again showcase his brilliance in a truly unique setting.

The women’s high jump at Weltklasse Zürich 2025 also promises an elite showdown. Yaroslava Mahuchikh, Olympic champion from Paris 2024 and current world record holder (2.10 m), leads a stellar field. The Ukrainian will face top Australian contenders Nicola Olyslagers, Olympic silver medallist and reigning Indoor World Champion, and Eleanor Patterson, 2023 World Championships silver medallist and 2022 World Champion. This trio has shaped the international high jump scene for years and brings intensity, quality, and a world-class rivalry to Zurich. Fans won’t want to miss this thrilling competition on the Sechseläutenplatz – while grandstand tickets are sold out, free standing-room access ensures everyone can be part of this unique athletics experience in the heart of the city.
The Sechseläutenplatz will once again transform into a one-of-a-kind open-air arena with a stadium atmosphere, while the following day, the Letzigrund Stadium will host the remaining Diamond League Final events. It’s a combination found nowhere else in the world – and one that turns Zurich into a true centre of global athletics.
With these first international stars confirmed, Weltklasse Zürich reaffirms its ambition to deliver another unforgettable edition in 2025. As host of the Wanda Diamond League Final, Zurich will become a two-day showcase for the very best athletes in the world.
