Diamond League Meetings 2020 dates announced

The General Assembly of the Diamond League has definitively set 14 meetings and the final at Weltklasse Zürich for the season 2020. All current meetings belong to the IAAF Diamond League 2020. Gateshead will replace Birmingham as the stadium in Birmingham will be rebuilt for the Commonwealth Games 2022 and is therefore not available for the Diamond League. In addition, a second meeting in China will be included in the Diamond League.

The General Assembly also reviewed and approved the recently announced partnership with Wanda Sports Group. It was also discussed which disciplines should be included in the newly defined 90-minute international broadcast window. A final decision will be taken at the beginning of November 2019.

The IAAF will also launch a second international series of one-day meetings in 2020 called the World Athletics Continental Tour, which will offer world-class competitions, world ranking points and earning opportunities for many more athletes. The focus will be on disciplines that are not regularly represented in the Diamond League.
