The Z\u00fcrich Trophy, a men\u2019s 4x100m relay race, was initiated in 2007. The spectacular competition, that always also featured a very ambitious and successful Swiss national team, quickly became a traditional highlight of the annual Weltklasse Z\u00fcrich programme of events.<\/p>\n
\u201eAfter six years, we would like to offer a stage to the women\u2019s national relay team,\u201c said Meeting Director Patrick K. Magyar. The young sprint squad had made headlines when it qualified for the London Olympic Games last year. And after setting a new national record (43.51) at the European athletics championships in Helsinki, the team is currently ranked 14th in the world, and 7th in the European top list. \u201cThe members of our relay team have truly earned themselves an opportunity to compete against the best sprint teams of the world at Letzigrund Stadium. The race will also serve as a high-profile test for the 2014 European athletics championships that will be held in Zurich,\u201d Patrick K. Magyar explained. The teams of Germany and Great Britain have already confirmed to run in this year\u2019s Z\u00fcrich Trophy.<\/p>\n
