The Magic System song sounded over the crowd and the platforms whenever Angelica Moser got ready on the runway. Carried by the clapping and the cheers of fans, friends, and family members, the local star and LC Zürich track club member would start her run and reach the speed she needed to soar into the air.

Moser took the European title in Rome by clearing 4.78m. She jumped 4.88 to win her very first Wanda Diamond League competition in Marrakech. And 4.80m earned her a fourth place at the Stade de France in Paris, this year’s Olympic stage. It was the best individual result for a Swiss athlete in a women’s event in the history of the Olympics – and a further milestone for the UBS Kids Cup winner and seven-time gold medallist at various international championships for young athletes.

Another fourth place

And yet: The national record holder, who is coached by Adrian Rothenbühler, has yet to make her way to the podium of a Weltklasse Zürich competition. With the support of the crowd, Angelica Moser jumped 4.77m (personal indoor record), but unfortunately, she failed to clear 4.82m.

The height proved difficult for all competitors except the Paris medallists Nina Kennedy (AUS/gold), Katie Moon (USA/silver), and Alysha Newman (CAN/bronze). While Newmann (2nd) and Moon (3rd) switched places on the podium, Kennedy was the only one to clear 4.87m. She did go on to give the 4.92m and then the 4.95m a try, but to no avail.

Kennedy wins for the third time

“I wanted to improve my personal best (4.91m), the mark I achieved here last year. I love Zurich so much. The fans are just amazing,” the Olympic and world champion and now three-time Weltklasse Zürich winner said.

Despite winning another «médaille en chocolat”, just like in Glasgow (world indoor championships), Paris (Olympic Games), and Zurich (2023), Angelica Moser was happy about competing at the show. “I enjoyed jumping in this setting again. Having such an event right on my doorstep is priceless. At the end of a long season, my batteries seem to be empty. So, the fan’s cheering helped a lot, of course.”

«Thank you, Zurich!»

Pascal Stöcklin, who is based in Basel, is happy with her appearance in Zurich as well. The European championship finalist and Olympian cleared 4.52m and placed sixth in her Wanda Diamond League debut. “The atmosphere was fabulous.
